I always seem to fall harder for the container, than I fall for what’s inside of it. Trying all the creams, balms and lotions this time of year. Rosebud Salve has a beautiful tin, definitely a vaseline feel, that smells powdery (Lex had a baby cabbage patch kid that smelled like this). 6/10 – not that I rate anything consistently, but it gets more points for the old timey metal tin & the fact that the salve is pink, and less points for not smelling like rosebuds ..not sure it was supposed to, but the name had me thinking it would.
It’s always pockets vs. drawer pulls around here. We changed out all the pointy cupboard handles years ago and somehow I still managed to get caught on the corner of something.
To close the rip, add stability and give the mending some strength, I fused a little rectangle of lightweight interfacing on the backside and using 100% cotton thread started stitching (in my sewing I try and use a thread that is similar in fiber content as the fabric, my universal choice is almost always a cotton or cotton/poly blend, but I’ve had this thicker cotton quilting thread hanging around and today was its day). I free handed the + + + but in the future I might chalk out a grid, put it in a hoop and go at it properly, not doing these things made it a bit awkward to work on. This is one of my most worn pieces of clothing, so it’s also the one that gets the most trashed ..I love this little patched pocket ♡
Kinda festive woven fabric star made using this tutorial.
Note: I cut my strips 2″ x 8″, which resulted in a finished star size just over 2″. I wasn’t sure I could just change the measurements to whatever I wanted and have it still work, so I made it out of paper first (it worked!), the smaller size in fabric made for extra plumpy folds though. I also added a bar pin to the back, so I can wear it.
Gumdrop Nugats are a weird caramel cream/cow tail texture, with fruity vanilla tootsie rollness and I’m in love with them. We made ours with chopped up gummy fruit slices because the only gumdrops we could find were spiced. 10/10
Small 2021 round up, I don’t know if more or less will get done in 2022, and really I’m good with whatever it ends up being, lets go easy on ourselves. ♡
