Roaming the already caked yarn stash. I go here first, it’s like the least risky option, even though some of my most favorite are in here, they are somehow less prized once caked. Cake stash happens when I get super excited for a new project and I want to use my best yarns, so I pull out the bins, start digging, fall in love, spin it up and then I don’t/can’t start on my project right away, and then by the time I can, I don’t want to anymore. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

Two stash cakes used and I’m so pleased ♡
Pattern : Pink Pirate by Elena Fedotova (link takes you to ravelry).
Yarn: (discontinued) Madelinetosh Feather, colorways – Scratched Record & Wild Flowers.

When the cakes just aren’t inspiring, I head to the full skeins, I especially enjoy coming across those beautiful odd balls from way back when I first started crocheting & knitting. I built most of my stash in those early years, buying one of things, freaking out over the price of yarn, having no clue what was what and just going for what made me scream inside (I still kind of do that!). Over the years I’ve trimmed down and donated skeins that weren’t right for me anymore, variety let’s you learn what you like and now I’m pickier & (mostly) happier than ever.

Never quite sure what to expect from variegated yarn. Could be good, could be bad!

Oh good, today I got watercolors ♡
Pattern: Baggy Hat by PetiteKnit (link takes you to ravelry).
Yarn: Dream in Color Classy, colorway – Milky Spite.
Oh Chalkie! Your projects are always so lovely! I’m crazy about that “Pink Pirate” pattern stitch!
