I finally made my way through a Raspberry Rucksack, I’m making the mini & omitting the backpack straps :) I picked fabrics & notions I didn’t mind messing up on, I thought I was going to regret using that linen, because it was fraying like mad, but I absolutely love it paired up with that shell pink. 💕
The pop up pocket is both tragic and magical, a few things..
a) It’s fully lined and totally satisfying to not know what you’re doing, but just follow the directions word for word and in the end, poof, lined pocket. I didn’t appreciate that satisfaction until it was finished, during construction I was losing my mind.
b) I cannot get iron on interfacing to be my friend, always with the fricken creases and wrinkles.
c) Take it SLOW when sewing this beast down, it’s purely attached using top stitching and when you try to do it in one swooop (starting at one corner and sewing your way around), it can quickly migrate and drift out of place. The trick I learned after having to rip it off several times and start over, was to just sew down the top (visually this is the place where you’ll really noticed if it’s crooked, so take your time), then sew down the bottom, then one side, then the other, catching the rounded corners as you sew each side mushing them into place as you go.
d) Using a friXion pen to mark cut/sew lines is just too cool, a quick press with a hot iron and it disappears!
e) Not sure why I LOVE in process project shots, they just make me so happy! 💕
Honestly after the pocket, and several times telling myself to chill the f out, it was a total breeze. 💕

It’s tiny and crooked and has inside pockets for the good stuff. 💕
